Growth Performance And Evaluation Of Fruit Characters Of Different Pear Varieties In South Xinjiang Region

Southern Xinj iang region is one of important pear production areas in China’Kuerle Fragrant Pear’ native to the region is famous all over the world. With the aim to rich local pear varieties and to lay the groundwork for pear breeding, it is necessary to explore the growth performance and fruit characteristics of different pear cultivars. In the past several years,25 pear varieties including’Liibaoshi’,’Xinli No.7’ ’Hinshui’,’Hongxiangsu’and so on were introduced into Shayidong Farm and were conservated by high grafting. Using field exploration and lab analysis, phenological phase, botanic characteristics, tree growth and development habit, fruit characterictics and nutrient composition of the above varieties were studied in the paper. Several varities such as’Yuluxiang’,’Huangguan’,’Mantianhong’,’Xizilu’ and’Red Cornice’were recommended to develop in Southern Xinjiang region due to their good adaptivity. For exsample, as ahyrid variety from’Kuerle Fragrant Pear’;’Yuluxiang’ has many good charateristics from’Kuerle Fragrant Pear’, with good fruit shape and greater size, just as soft flesh, early fruitset, higher yield and good storage trait. Furthermore, because the variety has similar blooming period to’Kuerle Fragrant Pear’, so it could be pollinated by’Kuerle Fragrant Pear’each other.’Wanxiu’ is a classic late-ripen variety with hardish flesh, rich juice, special flavor and good resistance to storage. It was proposed to develop properly.’Xinli No.7’,’Hinsui,’ ’Erli No.2’ and ’Cuiguan’ could be introduced as early ripen pear varieties. Several native varieties such as’Kuerle Fragrant Pear’ could be cultivated as middle and late-ripen varieties. It was very important to apply a set of cultivation techniques to maintain good quality, higher benefit and pollution-free.In concern of adaptability, different resistant to disease and grafting incompatibility were discovered in different vaieties. For instance,’Red Ballet’ has lower compatibility with ’Duli’. Dry rot disease was easily happen to grafting position of the two above varieties. It offen resuits in failure of grafting. Several Pyrvs pyrifolia varieties such as’ Fengshui’ were susceptible to fungus disease.The results provide important informations for pear cultivar optimization in Southern Xinjiang.
