According to ministry of agriculture statistics, in 2010, only the apple planting area reached 214 hm2, and its planting area has reached more than forty percent of the world. In 2011, the orchard planting area reached 1.1831×107hm2 all our country. In 2012, the orchard planting area had increased by 1.2%. With the proportion of orchard planting area occupied in agriculture is increasing, many mowers has came out in markets of our country, but many mowers don’t fit to work in orchard because of their complex structure, large size, expensive, and our country’s orchard’s planting situation more and more towards dwarf rootstock, their average row spacing and plant spacing can reach 3.5m to 4m and 1.5m to 2m. To this problem, this project design a small-sized orchard mower.To this orchard mower, this project need to be studied from the following several aspects.(1)Investigating and researching the existing mower in the markets.(2)To investigate our country’s situation about orchard planting.(3)To investigate and research permanent magnet generator so that we can choice a suitable permanent magnet generator.(4)To select a appropriate motor through learning the types and selection principle of motors.(5)We need to determine the number of cutting knife and the rotation rate of the generator and the motor through the experiment on the performance of generator and electric drive system performance tests.(6)To select a appropriate power machine, then combine with the power machine structures, we can design a suitable mower’s structures.(7) Combining with the rotational speed of the motor,we can determine the micro tillage machine’s suitable speed through having a test on the speed of micro tillage machine.(8)Combining with the movement of the mower, we can determine the trajectory of cutter possible.(9)Testing and analysis on the orchard mower operation performance.When we finish the above tasks, we conclude that if you don’t want to miss cut, and we let cutter diameter satisfies 0.3m, we must remain blade length is 0.105m, cutter tooth number is 3,the cutting knife rotating speed satisfies n≥2000 r/min, mower forward speed satisfies v≤3.15 m/s. We conclude that orchard mower’s average productivity is 13.96m2/min, orchard mower’s average net mowing time efficiency is 75.25%, mower’s average specific fuel consumption is 1.44ml/m2, When the mounting height of the cutting knife is 60mm, the average stubble height of the total area is 85.9mm, the average of the total area breadth is 589mm and the average utilization coefficient of cutting width is 93.5%, and the cutting leakage rate is 22%.
