Terribacillus aidingensis MP602 is a Gram-positive potential bacterium, isolated from Cryptomeria fortunei. The bacterium can grow in the medium containing 1~14%(w/v) NaCl(optimum 1~4%) at 3~44℃(optimum 32~37℃). The Biolog assay results showed T. aidingensis MP602 can utilize 21 kinds of carbon sources among the 71 kinds. Antibacterial spectrum experiments showed that MP602 exhibited antagonistic activity against several certain phytopathogenic fungi, including Botryis cinerea, Fusarium moniliforme, F. oxysporum, Ceratobasidium cornigerum, Septoria apii, Cercospora circumscissa, F. graminearum, and Alternariasolani solanisorauer. It can produce antagonistic metabolites to inhibit the growth of phytopathogenic fungi.Whole genome sequencing of Terribacillus sp. MP602 was performed with a combined strategy of Sanger shotgun approach and Illumina sequencing technology. The Velvet 1.2.10 software package was used for sequencing assembly and quality assessment. After the shotgun stage, gaps between contigs were closed by editing in consed(for repetitive elements) and by PCR with subsequent Sanger sequencing. The complete MP602 genome contains a single circular chromosome of 3,488,643bp(42.76% G+C content) and a single plasmid of 88,439bp(37.32% G+C content). The ORFs, rRNA and tRNA were forecasted by the bioinformatics methods. The chromosome and plasmid each codes 3,587 and 103 ORFs. 56 possible tRNA are annotated with tRNAscan-SE. The NR databases in GeneBank, the Swiss-prot, TrEMBL, COG were downloaded and used for gene function prediction and secondary annotation of category and domain information. The sequences of chromosome and plasmid have been submitted to GeneBank. Accession numbers are CP008876 and CP008877 respectively. This is the first bacterium in genus Terribacillus which completed the whole genome sequencing. The genome sequence of MP602 can provide the reference sequence for the follow-up genomic sequencing of the genus Terribacillus and a theoretic basis for screening the antagonistic function gene and studying the antagonistic mechanism.
