Hammer mill plays an important role in feed crushing industry. For its advantages ofgood processability and covering less area, hammer mill has already been widely used in feedprocessing industry. With the rapid development of national mechanical industry, hammermill is gradually revealed some problems, such as the high energy consumption and the lowefficiency. Lots of scientists has spent much energy and time on the research of theseproblems. This research comes from the Kerunde machinery company of Yangzhou. For theshortage of the hammer mill, the company puts forward to changing and adjusting thestructure of rotor and makes the open architecture become closed architecture. In this way, theair resistance and energy consumption of hammer mill will be reduced. This research is based on the closed architecture rotor. With the help of some theory, such as mechanical dynamics, rotor dynamics finite element method an so on, using ANSYSto simulate the strength of related parts, modal and unbalanced harmonic response of the rotorsystem. The following parts are studied in this paper.Firstly, it analyzes the force of the hammer and the hammer framework both with feedand without feed. Using the finite element software ANSYS to simulate the strength of thehammer framework. Secondly, it simplifies the model of the rotor system and establishes thesolid finite element model and the beam-quality finite element model, then analyses theirmodal vibration and natural frequency. Thirdly, it analyses four kinds of unbalancedcircumstance of the rotor system, calculates the unbalanced force of the rotor system, and usesANSYS to simulation the unbalanced harmonic response of the rotor system.Based on the result of the research, we can verify the strength of the hammer frameworkcan meet the needs of work, achieve the modal vibration and natural frequency of the rotorsystem, conclude the unbalanced harmonic response of the rotor system. At last, this paperwill provide theoretical basis for further design of the structure of rotor system.
