This paper aims at the environmental issue whether Sulfur Dioxide from theexploitation process of open pit coal mine affects the productivity of regional grassland. The Shenhua Nortel Victory open-pit coal mine was selected as the research object toexperiment and simulate analysis Sulphur in different medium, then combined the actualmeasurement and simulation research of grassland productivity to analyze the interactionof Sulphur and grassland productivity deeply. The main conclusions were shown asfollows:1.Spectrophotometric method was used to monitor the concentration of SO2inatmosphere. The analysis of actual data cases showed that the farther the distance from thecenter of a mining area, the lower the concentration of Sulfur Dioxide; the higher thealtitude of sample points, the lower the concentration of Sulfur Dioxide; the higher thetemperature of sample points, the lower the concentration of Sulfur Dioxide. Therefore, theopen pit coal mine was the main source where Sulfur Dioxide in the surroundingenvironment came from, and the meteorological factors affected the concentration ofSulfur Dioxide in atmosphere strongly.2. The acid wet digestion-barium sulfate turbidimetry was used to measure the Sulphurcontent in plants. The experimental results showed that Sulfur content in saline grass,Huwei grass and Alzheimer is higher than that in Splendid Achnatherum and Stipa.Splendid Achnatherum was the constructive species of the grassland and the Sulfur contentof it decreased as the distance increased, from this it came to the conclusion thatSulfur-containing substance from coal mine could affect the Sulphur content of SplendidAchnatherum.3.The BaSO4turbidimetry was used to measure the Sulphur content in soil. Thechange rule of soil Sulphur content on longitudinal and transeverse showed that: with theincrease of soil depth, soil Sulfur content was gradually decreased; with the increase of thedistance between the sampling sites and the open pit coal mine, soil Sulfur content wasdecreased. It indicated that the open-pit coal mine was the main source ofSulphur-containing substance.4.AERMOD was adopted to simulate the spatial distribution of SO2concentration, NPP of study area was simulated based on the Miami model, NDVI of the whole studyregion was calculated by TM images, the correlation analysis among NPP, NDVI and SO2concentration was finished at last. Steppe NDVI had significant negative correlations with“maximum of SO2hour concentrationâ€,“maximum of SO2daily average concentrationâ€,“monthly average of SO2in Julyâ€, this suggested that Sulphur-containing substance camefrom the coal mine exploitation process had some effects on the growth and developmentof steppe plants around the coal mine.5.Through the field experimental ground biomass was monitored, the paper gave afurther analysis on the measured biomass and Sulphur content in different medium, theresults showed a negative impact. Overall, this study reflected that Sulphur-containingsubstance came from coal mine would effect the growth and development of steppe plantsaround the coal mine, it even resulted in the decline of steppe plants biomass. |
