Colibacillosis in calf, an acute infectious disease in newboth calves, was caused byenteropat hogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) and it also known as white scour because the mainclinical symptom diarrhea and hoary loose stools. The disease occurs mainly in calf within10days of age, especially in1~3days. It can wildly sepread all over the year and much more inwinter and spring. During Jan. to Mar. in2011, the present writer do EPEC identification to adisease which cause newboth calves serious diarrhea and dehydration in a dairy farm inYangLing, Shannxi province, and clinic treatment was taken in the spring of2013. The resultare as follows.1.5samples selected from calves diarrhea in Yangling of Shaanxi province werediagnosed by the microbiological merthods, and6strains of Gram-negative bacteria wereisolated from the feces samples. According to the biological characteristics, physiological andbiochemical tests, all of the6isolated strains were identified as pathogenic Escherichia coli.Antibiotic sensitivity tests showed that the6isolated strains were highly sensitive to someantibiotics such as ceftriaxone sodium, ofloxacin, amikacin and kanamycin, moderatelysensitive to nitrofurantoinum, tobramycin and fortum, but not sensitive to streptomycin, gentamicin, rifampicin, compound sulfamethoxazole, erythromycin and tettacycline. Thepathogenic test showed that the6isolated strains were strong pathogenic to mice.2. Based on the results of colibacillosis in calves was diagnosed, by using OfloxacinInjection which hypersensitive to the bacterium,0.06mL/kg for every calves throuthintramuscular injection, once per day, for three days, and combine comprehensive preventivehealth measures, which indicate6head ill calves are recovered in a week.
