Objective: This research was laying stress on morphological changes of Salviamiltiorrhiza Bge.f.alba, aiming at the problem of continuous cropping obstacles in theprocess of the growth. The purpose was to study the temporal and spatial effect andresponding mechanism of physiological characteristic on continuous croppingobstacle, and then analysis the reason why root rot and normal dilated, to elucidate theeffects of continuous cropping on physiological and ecological characteristics ofSalvia miltiorrhiza Bge.f.alba. The research will provide the scientific basis forrevealing the mechanism, making reduction technology of continuous croppingobstacle, and realize the sustainable development of Chinese agriculture.Methods: Using portable photosynthesis system to analyse the photosyntheticcharacteristics., Microstructure and active ingredients distribution characteristicswere synthesized on the basis of the study on the biological characteristics ofcontinuous cropping Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge.f.alba. The results show that the ridgetype plastic mulching technique combined with biological agents can effectivelyimprove the yield and quality. Secondary metabolite and active component weredetermined by ultraviolet spectrum and HPLC.Results: The photosynthetic efficiency of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge.f.alba wasdecreased after the continuous cropping, and the root diameter was decreasedsignificantly, which led to the decline in yield. The root phloem atrophy, adhesionsand rot, which caused the decreasing of root diameter. The content of soluble proteinand mineral element were increased, while the contents of active ingredients were decreased significantly. The extract of fibrous root in low concentration stimulated theplant growth, while high concentrations contrarily. Ridge type plastic mulchingtechnique can effectively reduce Danshen continuous cropping symptoms, improvethe yield and quality.Conclusions: The droping photosynthesis limited the growth of the undergroundpart. The thick decline was the main reason leading to reduction of the yield. Rootphloem lesions are the main reason leading to root diameter and effective componentsdecline. The soil allelochemicals aggravate continuous cropping obstacle, ridgeculture and plastic mulching is the best method to cut down continuous croppingobstacle.
