In recent years, TMR technology have been widely used in dairy farming. Comparing with the traditional method, the quality of fodder have been enhanced, the cost of feeding have been reduced and the productivity of milk have been increased by using TMR technology. However, TMR technology research in our country is still at an early stage, most of the equipments depend on import. Although our country is a big country which have a long history of animal husbandry, the modern technology level of livestock farming is still far behind the developed countries especial the breeding technology of milk cow which have been a late starter. So, speeding up the introduction of technology and equipments of TMR, assimilating them and applying them to production practice is a fast path to turn the traditional breeding way into modern breeding way.Virtual prototyping technology developed in our country provided a powerful tool to solve the problems of product design. Applying virtual prototyping technology into the exploitation of TMR mixer can reduce design cost and design time, at the same times, design efficiency can be enhanced. This paper mainly engaged in the following research.According to the design guideline of TMR mixer, feed box, mixer wagon, support frame, drive system and hydraulic system have been analyzed and designed. All of the parameters have been confirmed which provided a theoretical support for the establish of TMR mixer virtual prototype.Using CATIA to accomplish the modeling of each part of TMR mixer and observe the interference checking which can intuitive display the assembly situation of TMR mixer.Using ANSYS Workbench 12.1 to accomplish the finite element analysis of the key parts, stress and modal results have been got. After analyzing the reasons, the improvements of TMR mixer wagon haven been completed.Axperimental analysis showed that sheared length and mixing uniformity of feed can meet the demand of cow breeding. The experimental result provided an important support for batch production.
