Preparation And Quality Control Of Albendazole Suspension

Parasitic diseases seriously threaten the health of animals and development of livestock, so the study of high efficiency and low toxicity deworming drugs have important practical significance. Since albendazole is a benzimidazole derivative, which has a wide drug resistance to insect spectrum and has the characteristics of low price, low toxicity and high efficiency, it is widely used to prevent people and animals from a variety of parasitic diseases, such as ascariasis, taeniasis and strongyloides stercoralis disease. Albendazole is considered one of the strongest anthelmintic in benzimidazole class of drugs.Purpose: In this study, the main drug is albendazole. We select the appropriate suspending agents, wetting agents, flocculants and anti-oxidants and other materials prepared suspensions to develop a high-quality albendazole suspension and to establish quality control method and safety tests of the suspension agent. So as to provide scientific basis for the clinical use of drugs and expand production.Methods:①We use neurotransmitters grinding to study albendazole suspension, use single factor and orthogonal tests to choose initial prescription, and further use measure settlement volume ratio, re-dispersion test, effective drug content and other indicators to determine the final prescription. ②We intend to investigate pharmacy agent features of albendazole suspension, including physical properties, sedimentation volume ratio, redispersibility test, stability test. ③ We use full-band ultraviolet scanning method to determine the measurement wavelength albendazole, make linear regression of albendazole solution concentration, draw calibration curve, and use add method to measure recovery and precision to establish a method of albendazole suspension content. ④We make acute oral toxicity effect in mice(LD50)to ensure its safety feature.Result: The best recipe of albendazole suspension agent coming out of this study is as follows: each 25 mL albendazole suspension contains 1.75 g albendazole, 0.3g sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, 0.0125 mL polysorbate-80, 0.3g citrate, and 0.075 g sodium benzoate. The test results of Albendazole suspension agent pharmacy characteristics accord with the quality requirement of the suspension agent in China Veterinary Pharmacopoeia. The UV- visible spectrophotometry results show that albendazole suspension sedimentation volume ratio is 0.94, the redispersibility is good, the average recovery is(99.60±1.47)%, and the coefficient of variation is 1.48%.Conclusion: The pharmacy feature of albendazole suspension agent determined by this experiment is stable with good physical stability, meets the requirements of the suspension agent quality, and has a simple preparation technology, thus it should be widely expanded in production and applied in veterinary clinic.
