Forest ecosystem plays a significant role in protecting natural environment and improvingclimate conditions, the current research mainly focus on assessment of forest ecosystem servicefunction and its value. Based on the characteristic of key public forest in Jiangsu Province, theevaluation index and method of ecological service, the forest ecological service function and itsvalue of key public forest in Jiangsu Province on2009were evaluated according to‘Specifications for assessment of forest ecosystem Services in China’(LY/T1721-2008) issuedby State Forestry Administration and the long-term data observed from the Yangtze delta forestecological station as well as the second forest resource inventory data collected in2009inJiangsu Province. The forest ecological service function value of key public forest in JiangsuProvince from2010to2030were further dynamically simulated using the principle of systemdynamics and Stella software. These results will provide a theoretical basis and scientificguidance for planning, protection and management the key public forest and producing the bestpossible ecological service benefit under preconditions of ecological security in JiangsuProvince. The main points were shown as follows:1. The total amount of ecological service of key public forest in Jiangsu Province included1.485billion ton for water conservation,681.69ten thousand ton for soil conservation,28.62ten thousand ton for fertilizer conservation;187.86ten thousand ton for carbon fixation;457.95ten thousand ton for oxygen releasing;22.87ten thousand ton for nutrient accumulation,3.27ten thousand ton for absorption of sulfur dioxide,1.3thousand ton for absorption of fluoride,1.6thousand ton for absorption of nitrogen oxide and462.01ten thousand ton for detainingdust.2. The total value of ecological service function of the key public forest was26.94billionYuan (RMB), and its per-area value was8.96ten thousand Yuan. The order of seven ecologicalservice function value was shown as follows, water conservation (13.032billion Yuan,48.37%)> carbon fixation and oxygen releasing (6.832billion Yuan,25.36%)> nutrientaccumulation (2.617billion Yuan,9.71%)> species conservation (2.449billion Yuan,9.09%)>soil conservation (0.771billion Yuan,2.87%)> atmosphere environmental purification (0.734billion Yuan,2.73%)> forest recreation (0.505billion Yuan,1.87%).3. The maximum and minimum total value of the ecological service function contributedby different cities in Jiangsu Province was0.448billion Yuan and4.935billion Yuan, respectively, the order was shown as follows: Xuzhou> Wuxi> Nanjing> Huaian>Lianyungang> Suqian> Zhenjiang> Suzhou> Yancheng> Changzhou> Yangzhou> Nantong>Taizhou. The total value in unit area was among8.08ten thousands hm-2to10.11ten thousandshm-2, the order was shown as follows, Suqian> Yangzhou> Yancheng> Wuxi> Nantong>Taizhou> Zhenjiang> Nanjing> Huaian> Changzhou> Suzhou> Lianyungang> Xuzhou.4. The total value of ecological service function contributed by different forest types inJiangsu Province was among0.489billion Yuan to10.276billion Yuan, the order was shown asfollows, poplar> Hard broadleaf> mixed forest> bamboo forest> masson pine> cypress> othertree species> China fir> shrub forest> exotic Pines> soft broadleaf forest> other pine> quercus>other taxodium. The maximum and minimum total value in unit area was10.65ten thousandYuan hm-2and3.44ten thousand hm-2respectively, the order was shown as follows: Bambooforest> Hard broadleaf> China fir> Mixed forest> Poplar> Soft broadleaf forest> Othertaxodium> Masson pine> Quercus> Other tree species> Cypress> Exotic pines> Other pine>Shrub forest.5. According to the analogue simulation prediction, the total ecological service value ofkey public forest from2010to2030in Jiangsu Province will be increasing in the first decadeand decreasing in the following five years, then increasing again in the subsequent five years.The total value will achieve to38.834billion Yuan in2030with a44.15%increase over2009.The order of seven ecological service value in2030will be consistent with2009, the detailedorder and proportion as follows, water conservation (18.921billion Yuan,49.36%)> carbonfixation and oxygen releasing (9.858billion Yuan,25.72%)> nutrient accumulation (3.867billion Yuan,10.09%)> species conservation (3.333billion Yuan,8.69%)> soil conservation(1.102billion Yuan,2.87%)> atmosphere environmental purification (0.959billion Yuan,2.50%)> forest recreation (0.794billion Yuan,2.07%).
