This paper present the effect of treatment of substrate formulas, container types andspecifications, fertilizer types and application amount and root growth promoting agents onbiomass, quality-morphology, quality index and some other physiological indicators of seedlingof Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica Litv. which was the main afforestation species in Baotou city,Inner Mongolia. Some important experimental results were got and showed as follows:(1) The different matrix formulations have significant effects on seedling cultivation. Theseedling cultivated by matrix7is the most prominent from the seedling biomassquality-morphological index (nursery soil: peat: vermiculite=1:0.5:0.5), with respect to thematrix1(nursery soil), all indicators were improved scignificantly. It was the most suitablematrix formula for the local container seedling of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica Litv.(2) The results showed that the root controlling container> non-woven fabric container>polyethylene container on the effectiveness of the container types. The big containers were betterthan the small one on the container size. The quality of seedling was highest on the treatment ofroot controlling container (16cm×18cm), developed root system and high activity on seedlingof Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica Litv. But the non-woven fabric container (16cm×18cm) andthe root controlling container (14cm×18cm) were the first container for the local2years oldseedling of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica Litv when combining with the seedling quality andeconomic efficiency.(3) Tests showed that the treatment of slow release fertilizer was better than that of urea onfertilizer type and fertilization on Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica Litv.The treatment that slowrelease fertilizer2.5kg·m-3matrix was relatively better on the quality of seedlings morphologicalindex and physiological index. It was the best choice on fertilizer. It is significant difference onstem, lateral root number, dry weight when compared with CK. The most part of indicators beganto decline when the slow release fertilizer greater than2.5kg·m-3matrix.(4) The results showed that it was significant that ABT1g·L-1、NAA0.5g·L-1、N+A1g·L-1for the growth of seedling. It was increased by more than30%comparing with CK,developed root system, and the number of lateral root stout. At the same time, more thickerdiameter, high content of nutrients such as protein, seedling resistance ability. make But the highconcentration of ABT1.5g·L-1、NAA1.5g·L-1make the inhibition for the growth of seeding root.
