In this study reviewed on the basis of a large number of related literature at home and abroad, thispaper discusses the influence of the different aspects of intermediate cutting on poplar plantation.Select thepoplar plantation in HuiJi zone of Zhengzhou city as the research object, by field survey of different intermediatecutting intensity of9standards based on field survey data, research and analysis all kinds of sample trees of treeheight, diameter at breast height, crown breadth, higher growth factor under branch, the understory plant diversityindex, places in different layers of litter, and soil bulk density, porosity, water holding capacity and other physicalproperties and soil organic matter, total N, the chemical properties such as PH in detail under the differentintermediate cutting intensities, according to the research results of HuiJi area of poplar plantation someintermediate cutting measures are also proposed.Poplar features in the characteristics of fast growing, matureearly, high yield, excellent material and easy to update,so it is widely cultivated in Henan province.by2008,ofpoplar plantation area in Henan province has reached92.13x10t hm2, accounting for46.95%of the artificialarbor area in the province.Poplar not only directly provide with wood to create economic value, but also can beused as an ecological barrier, with windbreak and sand-fixation, water conservation, soil and other ecologicalprotection benefit, which plays a significant role in ecological construction and has an irreplaceable position in theconstruction of forestry ecological engineering in Henan province.This article not only has made the detailedinstructions on the methods of surveying and disposing data,but also reflected the differences between theparameters and indexes under different processing in the form of table.This paper’s main results:(1) With the increase of intensity of intermediate cutting, the tree diameter at breastheight, crown amplitude of poplar plantation increase, the change of tree hight was not obvious, and the underbranch height of tree was on the decline.(2) Under different intermediate cutting intensity, the diversity of poplarplantation forests herbs differed under different intermediate cutting intensity, generally with the increase ofintensity of intermediate cutting, the dominance of herbage declined, evenness under moderate intensity ofintermediate cutting was the biggest and the structure of understory plant was more stable.(3)With the increase ofintensity of intermediate cutting, litter layer, half decomposition level of litter showed a trend of decrease, whiledecomposition level of litter was on the rise, the total amount of decomposition layers was on the decline.Asintermediate cutting intensity increased, litter and litter decomposition layers or percentage of the total litter werefalling.(4) With the increase of intensity of intermediate cutting, soil bulk density in the0to10cm and10-20cmlayer has appeared a downward trend, the layer in the0to10cm declined more obvious.The saturation of the soilwater holding capacity, capillary water holding capacity, capillary porosity and capillary porosity in the0to10cmand10-20cm soil layer was on the rise, which means this theory changed the physical structure of thesoil.(5)Illumination, temperature and other environmental conditions changed after tending forestland, which wasadvantageous to the litter decomposition, and changed the structure of the soil layer, consequently reduced thesoil bulk density, improved capillary porosity and total porosity of forest floor and ventilation of the soil properties,water holding capacity and soil nutrient content.
