The soil-water increasing agent is a new type of soil water retention agent, with humic acid as matrix, using the strong moisture absorption characteristics of magnesium sulfate in desulfurized magnesium slag to absorb moisture from the air which is very low in moisture content, and turn the gaseous water into portion of membranous water and capillary water in soil, then maintain moisture with the polymer materials for the use of plant growth. In this paper, it aims to find out the best application location and the best application amount of soil-water increasing agent in practical application and evaluate its effects on soil. Based on a great deal of field test data and through the contrast tests, it studied the effects on soil moisture, soil physical and chemical properties, and the growth of forest trees by using soil-water increasing agent with different positions and different application amounts. Finally, it made a systematic introduction about the application methods of soil-water increasing agent, hoping to be useful in the study of it and to promote its application. The results showed that:(1) the application of soil-water increasing agent can make the survival rate of Pinus tabulaeformis seedling more than80%, which is15%higher than the control group. Where the depth is30cm and the application amount is1.5kg, the survival rate of pine seedlings is much higher as92%.(2) Soil water increased obviously near the depth where soil-water increasing agent was put, from0.48%to2.29%. There is no significant difference in water increasing effects among different application amounts. Where the application depth is30cm and the application amount is1.5kg, the whole soil-water content reached the maximum,4.4%higher than the control group. The soil water contents differ significantly between six kinds of application schemes and the control group at the0.05level.(3) The soil organic matter content shows an increasing trend after adding soil-water increasing agent.(4) The impact on soil pH is very small after using the soil-water increasing agent. But the soil conductivity is slightly higher than the control group; the soil salinization degree is not altered fundamentally in each treat groups.(5) After using the soil-water increasing agent, there are certain effects on ion concentrations and salt compositions in the soil.
