Piper sarmentosum belonging to pepper is a kind of high economic value and great development potential tropical plant. Its fruits containing aromatic odor can be used as spices in the food processing industry; Its roots、stems、leaves and fruits can be used as medicine;Piper sarmentosum’s leaves are rich in vitamins, protein, amino acids and mineral nutrients.So they can be eaten as good healthy vegetable. Currently, Piper sarmentosum is still a kind of wild plant waiting for being exploited.Studies on Piper sarmentosum are minimal. In this study, the main aspects contain strain selection and tissue culture. As new tropical fragrant vegetable,we hope to promote the use of it.The main findings are as follows:(1)Study on strain selection of Piper sarmentosum’s population is preliminary. We get three fine individuals numbered as A4, A21and A26.(2)In primary culture,for different explants,choices of disinfection are differernt. The best method of young stems’disinfection is70%alcohol30s+0.1%HgCl29min.The best method of leaves’disinfection is70%alcohol30s+0.1%HgCl26min.(3)The optimal medium for Piper sarmentosum’s aseptic culture is MS+0.5mg/L NAA+3mg/L6-BA.(4)The optimal medium for stems’callus induction culture is MS+0.25mg/L NAA+3mg/L6-BA.The best medium for leaves’callus induction culture is MS+0.25mg/L NAA+3mg/L6-BA or MS+0.5mg/L NAA+2mg/L6-BA.(5)In subculture,the optimal medium is MS+0.1mg/L NAA+3mg/L6-BA.The multiplication coefficient was3.0. The optimal pH is5.8and the optimal concentration of sucrose is30g/L(6)In culture of differentiation inducing from callus,using stems as explants,the optimal medium is MS+0.02mg/L NAA+0.5mg/L6-BA.The rate of differentiation was68.3%.The number of average buds was4.(7)The best way to control explants browning is the medium supplemented with lg/LPVP. The circle of subculture was12d.(8)The optimal rooting medium is1/2MS+3mg/L NAA+0.1mg/L6-BA.The rate of rooting was83.3%.The average length of per root was5cm.
