The pot experiments were carried out to find the effects on stalks germination,seedling morphological characteristics, biomass and the chlorophyll of Arundo donaxunder different soil water content. Field tests the effect that planting Arundo donax doesgood to the environment, to identify the impact that area variation of Arundo donax andthe planting of dry land reeds have on the organic carbon, Total Nitrogen, soil availablepotassium of the soil. Combined with DEM data of Poyang Lake, remote sensing imagein recent years were used for spatial statistical analysis by ArcGIS.16-18m elevation(Wusong Elevation) of the bottomland was extracted, to identify the optimum range andlocation By analyzing the main problems in the development of reed industry andtargeted measures. The main results are as follows:(1)Seedling height, growth rate, leaf area, biomass and chlorophyll content ofArundo donax seedling decreased with the reduction of soil water content. The soilwater content has significant effect on survival time of Arundo donax, and when it wasin less than or equal to27.8%, the Arundo donax died. The results also show that whenthe soil water content was greater than or equal to33.3%, stalks had axillary budgermination. The38.9%of the soil water content was the best one for the growth ofArundo donax and its growth parameters of the seedling can achieve optimal under thiscondition. Between38.9%and44.4%of the soil water content was the ideal conditionof Arundo donax growth and each growth parameters of the seedling all may achievethe high level.(2)Planting dry land reed in Poyang Lake region increase not only the biodiversityin experiment and demonstration area,but also number of patches, area and biomass ofxerophytic phragmites communis.Water level in Poyang Lake influences the distributionarea and biomass of xerophytic reed.In xerophytic reed growing areas, the content oforganic carbon,total N,available K in the soil were significantly increased.after the test,soil organic carbon is up to32.5g kg-1,the content of total N in the soil increased35%,and available potassium is63mg/kg, increased by15.38%.(3)In Poyang Lake region, the optimum elevation for Arundo donax-growth is16-18m(Wusong Elevation).These areas mainly located in lakesides and lake branchesin southern Poyang Lake, radiating from center to the periphery, and its total areais1.02×104hm2,in which16m elevation-bottomland area is the largest.According to theresearch, the largest suitable area for reeds-planting is Yugan County,with the area of4.08×103hm2.Yugan County, where be least susceptible to the impacts of river level, is the most ideal region for reeds-planting.(4)Great changes of water level within the year in Poyang Lake, flooding anddrought seriously, wetland area and bottomland area reduce, man-made destructionfrequently and complex social environment is facing the industry development of reedin Poyang Lake. The paper puts forward the countermeasures to develop reed industryin Poyang Lake: According to the scientific principles, choosing appropriate elevation;The reasonable development bottomland, improve the production efficiency; Scientificplanting and management, perfect operation system; The perfect legal laws andregulations, coordinate the relationship between industry.
