3 D laser scanning measurement technology has the advantage of "non-contact, high efficiency, high precision, high security and big data". At present, the technology has been applied to high steep rock slope rockfall survey and it can well solve the high and steep slope investigation problem that personnel can’t contact measured target. In this paper, the application of 3 D laser scanning technology in the survey of dangerous rock mass is discussed. The main content includes the 3 D laser scanning principle introduction, rock and vegetation range analysis, structural plane geometry parameters acquisition, dangerous rock mass scale, location and potential movement direction ascertaining. The specific research contents and results are as follows:The ranging principle of 3 D laser scanning technology is introduced and the range curve of Leica Scan Station C10 is obtained. Then the factors affecting range Spectral analysis of the object to be measured also be analyzed and the maximum range of rock and vegetation are calculated which can provide certain guidance for field station layout.Based on the point cloud data, methods for obtaining the occurrence, spacing and trace length of structures are proposed. The geometric parameters of rock mass structural plane are obtained by solving the measurement point cloud data and the rationality and reliability of the data are analyzed. The advantage of structural plane occurrence, the mean spacing and the mean trace length in dangerous rock mass region are obtained by the statistics.Through the establishment of dangerous rock slope model and cuniour surface, combined with structural plane boundary, the identification and classification of dangerous rock mass, the measurement the dangerous rock mass size, the obtainment of center position of dangerous rock and its potential movement direction were captured in this paper.Comprehensively analyzing the application of 3D laser scanning technology in the investigation of dangerous rock zone, it states that three-dimensional laser scanning technology can well acquire dangerous rock mass structural plane parameters and geometric parameters and can provide accurate data for engineering site investigations.
