High-speed rail grinding has been widely adopted as an effective way to improve the wheel-rail contact relationship. With the rapid development of high-speed railway in our country, the maintenance and repair of the rail profile has also become a new topic. The research of high-speed rail grinding has been carried out early abroad, which has become a more mature theory. In our country, because the rail cant settings and wheel-rail relationship of high railway rails are different from abroad, we can’t completely copy them, on the basis of foreign grinding experience and through field continuously grope and practice, grinding way conforming to our country’s high-speed railway is gradually formed. So the study of rail grinding process, rail profile, grinding wheel-rail contact stress and grinding cycle of high-speed railway has become the urgent topic now.In this paper, the present situation of the high-speed rail grinding at home and abroad is introduced, the working principle and grinding process of GMC-96X large road rail grinding wagon adopting in our country is expounded, and field test of grinding process is carried out, grinding wheel-rail contact stress is analyzed, present grinding technology is studied through the means of rail profile and band after grinding, main conclusions and results obtained are as follows:1. the wheel-rail contact stress before and after grinding is calculated through Ansys, through the analysis of rail contact stress before and after grinding at the observation area, after grinding, the wheel-rail contact stress becomes more uniform, contact area is tending to the rail middle, at the same time, the maintenance of vehicle wheel is slightly lower, which greatly improves the wheel-rail contact relationship.2. under the same capacity, power consumption of power supply system reduces and works line quality improve obviously after rail grinding.3. the initially determined definition of grinding cycle at home and abroad (30-50Mt) is reasonable.
