Finance is the core of modern economy, the banking institutions is the largest part of Chinese financial system. As the main funding institution in every state’s economic activity, the healthy and sustainable development of banking is very important to the macroeconomic environment, the real economy and people’s livelihood. But in recent years, the slowdown of economic growth, the marketing of interest rates, financial disintermediation, the beachhead of foreign banks, tighter regulatory and other changes are challenging Chinese commercial banks greatly.A bank is one of the joint-stock banks, established in 1987, the assets and scale are both listed in the ninth. In recent years, however, changes in the environment and the better performance of competitors force A bank to change its idea, re-position, and adjust the development strategy to compete its counterparts with merits. This thesis consists of six chapters: the first chapter introduces the background, purpose, content, methods and general research idea, the second chapter reviews the relevant literature on strategic management and related research on the profit model of commercial bank, which provide the theoretical basis for this article to propose the suggestion.Chapters III and IV analyze the drivers of that A bank must make strategic adjustments from the external and internal sides respectively. Chapter V puts forward the overall strategic planning and the specific implementation planning on the basis of the above analysis. The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this article. This paper argues that, A bank should A bank should increase investment in the retail business, develop light capital business, compress organizational hierarchy, create a distinctive brand image, use the Balanced Scorecard to manage objectives. In addition, information technology, corporate culture and risk management should be adjusted accordingly to make the strategic objectives be achieved, and strategic measures be implemented.Finally, it should be pointed out that, A bank is only the case of this study. The paper is a reference to other banks.
