On Adam Smith 's Anti - Monopoly Thought And Its Contemporary Value

What monopoly means can trace to authority privileges. During early classical period, Adam Smiths and other scholars strongly criticized what mercantilism stated interference to market’s free competition. Actually, the problem hindering the market competition mechanism still comes from the administrative monopoly until now. If without government support, monopoly power cannot go on prosperity in a long-term and the fact that government restricts and controls on the market will destroy the dynamics competitive process of market is with no doubt. The real purpose of antitrust should eliminate human’s interference and be against the so-called government-mandated monopoly.By researching and reviewing the evolution of antitrust, this paper attempts to find out the routes and mechanism of solving it and provide a reference for the enforcement of anti-monopoly in our country. This paper in particular studies the interaction of economies stemmed from the most remarkable phenomenon. By researching antitrust evolution, and combined with China’s reality, this paper presents the general idea of antitrust in our country. It is beneficial for the rationalities appraise enterprise competition behavior during imperfect competition and reasonable evaluation of the social costs and impact of monopoly, as well as providing more reasonable ideas to the reform of monopoly industries in China by strengthening the research about the historical evolution of monopoly theories and interpreting in-depth the reasons of monopoly from the aspect of economics.This presentation includes five parts: The first chapter introduces background, importance, current situation both home and abroad, the method and article frame, originality and deficiency. The second part is a theoretical research on the origins and parentage of the anti-monopoly thought of Adam Smiths, which defines some related concepts and then systematically introduces separately and inclusive keys, followed by the evaluation of anti-monopoly thought. The third part is the brief evolution of the monopoly thought since the era of Adam. The fourth part summarizes the characteristics of the background of our economy and monopoly situation, in addition, discusses several original suggestions to solve the real monopoly problem in China from the perspective of the essence of the anti-monopoly thought of Adam——competitive market economy. The fifth part concludes summarization on this paper from a general point of view.
