After the end of the Cold War, economic globalization and regional economic integration has become two main trends in the field of the world economy. But due to the fact that Doha Round Negotiations under the framework of World Trade Organization(WTO) are deadlocked, coupled with the financial crisis, regionalization has gradually become the main driving force of leading the world economic development.Since the 1990 s, especially after the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the regional economy and the process of regional integration has accelerated, most Asian countries are involved in the vast majority of the worldwide regional trade agreement(RTA) and free trade agreement(FTA). But compared with other parts of the world, the economic development of Asia-pacific region is heavily dependent on international trade mechanism, which makes the current increase in the number of FTA has not promoted the integration of intra-regional trade and caused fragmentation in Asia Pacific original production network, instead. Therefore, under such circumstances, Asia-pacific regional economic advancement is in need of a wide range free trade agreement to overcome the negative effect of bilateral free trade agreements which gives rise to the US-led Trans-Pacific Partnership(TPP) and China-led Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement(RCEP) and the Free Trade Area of Asia-Pacific(FTAAP)proposed by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC).In this context, this article selects the TPP, a regional economic integration framework of cooperation to solve the three interrelated problems. Firstly, based on the TPP, ‘a high standard, the next generation of 21 st century’ multilateral free trade agreement, this research intends to analyze the characteristics of American foreign policy and economic interests in Asia-pacific region under the background of ‘return to the Asia-pacific’. Secondly, this article will predict the future direction of regional economic integration and the possible strategic choices of regional major economic forces such as Japan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN). Thirdly,China’s strategic moves such domestic economic reform and regional policies will also be included.
