Research On Food Security In China

“Food is the paramount necessity of the people”, since ancient time, food security is always the most important thing in state governance. In the long history, national turmoil and even wars were often happened because of famine. In the 21 st century, the development of science and technology, promoted productivity development greatly, and the grain output has improved greatly, but there is a lot of people in some countries still have not sufficient food to supply because of the imbalance of food supply and demand in the international market. For our country, with the increase of population and the rapid development of urbanization and industrialization, our food security is facing the severe situation. Since 2004, the central committee consecutively issued 12 “first Document of the Party Central Committee” of rural development, and the “first Document” of 2004 even put the focus on food security. Agriculture is the foundation of the national economic development, and food is the foundation of national survival, so food security is of great importance for the development of Chinese economy.Food is different from general merchandise, firstly, food is the result of natural process, it can be easily affected by soil, water, sunshine, climate and so on, these factors jointly determine the special nature of food; secondly, produced food will be sold in the market, but also has product attributes. The food price can be affected by market fluctuations; thirdly, from production to marketing, food security must be considered from the grain seed to grain production, including a series of factors, such as production process, transport, warehousing, market, it involves the whole industrial chain related to the food safety. Food security can be affected by a series of factors, to clarify the factors behind it and construct the food security system in our country, this is the solution to the food security in China.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the background and significance of the selected topics, the research status both at home and abroad, research ideas and the framework of this article; The second part introduces the theories related to food security and the evaluation index; The third part reveals the essence of food security. Food security must be to ensure the safety of the whole industrial chain of food. And then analyzes the importance of food security has; The fourth part analyzes the problem of food security in our country, the innovation is to carefully analyze the grain behind the related industry chain, aims to find the reasons of the food security problems in our country; The fifth part puts forward policy suggestions for food security, the purpose is to build more perfect food security system. Suggestions in chapter 5, involve the national macro strategic planning, micro industry chain improvement and the reshape of food saving culture, etc. Carry forward the fine traditional culture, reshaping food saving culture, this is an innovation point in my paper.
