In the process of mosquitoes’ courtship, the female mosquito flaps its wings to cause near-field sound waves to push male mosquitoes tentacles’ vibration. Male mosquitoes’ hearing organ—Johnston’s organ, which can perceive the specific location through the vibration of the antenna. In this paper, we preliminary studied the male mosquitoes’ auditory system, experimentally tested the amplification mechanism of the flagella of the antennas to the near-field acoustic wave and the the perception mechanism of the plane-sound-wave’s direction. Imitating the sound wave amplification and perception principle of male mosquitoes, metal core PVDF fiber airflow sensor which has the airflow amplification and direction sensing performance was prepared, the main research content is as follows:1. Setting up experimental system, studying the amplification mechanism of the male mosquito’s antennal flagella to the sound signal. The best sound response frequency to the sound signal and the mosquitoes’ response to different sound waves were derived by sweep frequency experiments. Through the comparison experiments of the tentacle with or without flagella, flagella’ amplification mechanism to the same sound signal was studied, which was also validated by finite element method.2. Setting up experimental system, studying the male mosquitoes’ direction perception mechanism to the plane and space sound signals. The results of the experiments showed that:the male mosquitoes’ auditory system has an obvious direction perception to the plane and space sound, and this ability is mainly due to the effect of flagella, based on which speculates the sensing mechanisms of the male mosquitoes’ auditory system to the sound direction.3. Imitating the tentacles’ structure of the male mosquitoes, sticking PVDF cilia on the side face of the metal core PVDF fiber, the enhanced metal core PVDF fiber airflow sensor was prepared, and the airflow sensor model was established. Analyzing the side face cilia’ amplification effect on the airflow sensing performance, and the experiment system was built to text the airflow sensing performance of the PVDF fiber, which verified the sensor model.4. Imitating the tentacles’ structure of the male mosquitoes, sticking PVDF cilia on the side face of the metal core PVDF fiber, the directional metal core PVDF fiber airflow sensor was prepared, and the airflow sensor model was established. Analyzing the side face cilia’ effect on the direction sensing performance, and the experimental system was built to test the direction sensing performance of the sensors to the airflow, the results showed that the detected airflow signal of this sensor appeared an obvious"8", which indicated an obvious direction sensing performance.
