The increase of aging population brings great challenge on social pension system and pension service. However, traditional home care mode is still the first choice for the majority of the elderly in China. It is now a main research direction in smart pension system how to ensure their physical and mental health. A new type of smart pension monitoring system is mentioned in this thesis, which utilizes the Internet of Things, Internet, smart terminal, embedded system etc. It acquires the vital sign data of the elderly in home and analyzes them by professional medical workers and algorithm. It then feeds back the results and advices to the elderly and their relatives. It can also generate alerts immediately when the elderly are in danger. It builds a common platform for medical workers, the elderly and their relatives in order to provide them with more professional, humanized and comprehensive pension service.An extensible ZigBee "Key-Value" data transmission method is mentioned to realize the exchange of unified data format between vital sign sensors and gateway. The general-purpose application-level is introduced to encapsulate low level communication protocol. The software three tier architecture and Web service technology are also implemented to separate the user interface, the business logic, the data operation and the database system of software, which improves the readability and extensibility of program.The system innovatively combines resources in community by establishing a database and a monitoring terminal in community health service station and develops an application based on.NET framework, which realizes the real-time data analysis and supervision of algorithm and medical workers. Another application based on Android system on smart phone is also developed for the relatives to know the health condition of the elderly.Finally the system formed by software above is tested functionally, which proves that it is capable of realizing the acquisition, transmission, storage, analysis, display and warning of vital sign data and paying necessary attention on the elderly from the medicine and society. The codes of software developed are well structured, which means that they can be easily understood, maintained, improved and reused.
