Wind power is a sort of inexhaustible and renewable resource. Among the development of all kinds of renewable and new resources, the wind power generation has great potential of scale production and commercial development prospect.Firstly the paper briefly describes the constitution and operation principle of variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) double-fed wind power generation system, establishes the mathematical models of double-fed induction generator (DFIG) in different coordinate systems, and analyzes the power flow and power limit of DFIG. The power characteristic model of wind turbine is established by using the finite element analysis method, and the accuracy of the modeling is verified by simulation. The operation area of DFIG is introduced, and the control strategy of the main controller during the maximum wind power tracking period is emphatically discussed.Because of the harsh running environment of wind power generation system, there are high demands for the main controller in some aspects, such as volume, weight and reliability. Considering that the main controller of wind power generation system has to complete the tasks of yawing, pitch control, brake, temperature modifying and so on within some milliseconds, an embedded main controller is designed by using TMS320DM642 as core processor. Then the paper gives the design of minimum system in the main controller. After analyzing the DSP/BIOS’multitask management, the main control software structure is designed combining with the control methods for different actuators in wind power generation system, and the functions of several important software modules are introduced. Finally the paper gives the simulation analysis and experimental research of VSCF wind power generation system. The theoretical inactive power limit and active power flow in DFIG are obtained by simulation. An experimental study of maximum wind power tracking control strategy in the main controller is carried out, using a wind turbine simulation system, and the operation result of the unit is given.
