With the rapid development of technology and industry, more and more rotating machinery have been utilized in production and engineering systems. Thus, rotating machinery usually plays an important role in these systems. The health conditions of rotating machinery has significantly impacted the overall performance of the entire system and even affects the safety of the production process. The operation condition of rotating machinery equipment is monitored through the changes of the characteristics of vibration signal that determine the mechanical state of health in running process, which has positive significance to improve production efficiency and reduce accidents.This thesis aims to develop a module which has the ability to simultaneously sample and store multiple channels of vibration signals. The module chooses DSP chip as the processor to extract the characteristics of the vibration signal. The processed results of vibration signal can be uploaded to computers via Ethernet interface so that it can be further checked. By using an embedded processor as the core processing unit of the module, the acquired signals are directly processed at the sensor so that the amount of the data need to be transmitted is reduced as well as the pressure of the data channel and the occupied PC resources.The thesis describes the characteristics of rotating machinery vibration signal and introduces methods to analyze and process those signals, establishes the technical specifications, and designs the hardware and software proposals of the module. In terms of hardware, firstly, the sensor for sampling the vibration signal is selected according to the characteristics of vibration signals, and the sensor’s power supply is developed. Secondly, we design the analog signal conditioning circuit with the help of Multisim simulation software so that is can pre-process the output signal of the sensors by the means of blocking, of DC, amplification, and filtering; Subsequently, we describe the design process of the DSP system, A/D converter module, and communication interface. Finally, the design process of FPGA’s logic is described in detail. The logic drives and controls the ADC, transfers the data between FPGA and DSP, and realizes network communication based on the TCP protocol. On the software side, firstly, the program of DSP is designed in the CCS development environment based on C language. The program design of the time domain and transform domain processing algorithms for the fault detection were mainly elaborated in the paper.. Then, the PC network port communications software and user panel are designed based on LabVIEW supporting for TCP protocol.Finally, we test and evaluate the hardware and software of the vibration signal acquisition and processing module through some experiments. The results show that the module’s hardware function well, and its performance meets the design requirements, and the developed module can perform characteristic extraction on extract typical fault of the rotating machinery.
