Study Of The Applicability Of Modern Tram In Tourist City

With the rapidly growth of social economy, the accelerated pace of urban construction, the population agglomeration, and the lagged development of traffic, all those have lead to the urban traffic congestion become increasingly prominent. At the same time, energy shortage and environmental pollution problems have become the focus of global attention. Developing the public transportation with large capacity, energy saving and environmental-friendly is the effective measures to alleviate energy shortage, environment pollution and traffic congestion in every city around the world. As a low volume urban rail transit system with reliable, comfortable, energy saving, environmental protection and other characteristics, modern tram system is in accordance with the requirements of the development of urban traffic. Therefore, it has great research value in the application of different regions.Firstly, the paper defines the concept of modern tram system, and analyzes its composition and characteristics. Besides, it by making comparisons with rubber-tired tram system and BRT, lay a foundation for the application mode of the modern tram and its application in urban tourism.Secondly, through analysis of tram application example both at home and abroad, nine application modes of modern tram are summarized from the viewpoint of functional orientation. Furthermore, combined with feature of cities, characteristics of different application modes are analyzed. Thus, the paper puts forward some recommendations to construction and operation of modern tram system.Thirdly, based on the analysis of the urban traffic demand features in tourist city, modern tram system is proofed to meet the basic requirements of traffic development of tourist city, and then proposes three main application modes of modern tram in China’s tourism city. At last, economic, social and ecological benefits of the modern tram system in tourist city are analyzed.Finally, through the application example of modern tram system in tourist city, the paper gives a detailed analysis in the feasibility of application and application value of modern tram system in tourist city.
