In modern war, such as city maintenance of stability, street fighting and regional tactical breakthroughs, the infantry is still the most basic needs. In this context, the gunfire positioning system which can protect soldiers safe effectively came into being. The acoustic detection system has been widely used for its advantages of good positioning effect, strong anti-jamming performance, low cost and so on. In this paper, based on the acoustic characteristics of the gun, we explore the technology to achieve the positioning which use micro microphone array.The projectile will produce two kinds of acoustic wave in the process of firing and fling. One is shock-wave produced by the explosion of gunpowder in the body,The other is the mach-wave produced by a projectile in a supersonic flight. Two kinds of acoustic waves are both carried the position information and firearms caliber and other related information. By analyzing the acoustic characteristics of the two kinds of wave-forms, set different threshold to achieve analysis of two kinds of sound, and using cross-correlation function to estimate time delay.In the algorithm derivation process, according to the characteristics of the miniature microphone, elaborated directional algorithm based on the micro pyramid array and large size planar array, and derives the dual array fusion fixed distance algorithm and a single array distance algorithm and based on muzzle wave multi array fixed distance algorithm, then combined with the characteristics of projectile mach-wave, using multi array implementation of projectile information estimation.Finally, the accuracy and practicality of the algorithm are compared through the simulation, the corresponding algorithm is optimized and selected, effectively improves the performance of location system.The hardware and software of the system are designed briefly. Gunfire positioning system based on physical model was built. Planning the main function module of the system.The flow chart of the system’s orientation, fixed distance and projectile information estimation is clarified, which lays the foundation for the following design of hardware circuit and enhancing the system.
