With the development of power electronic technology, higher demand is proposed for present automatic control system. Obviously, traditional driving way made of rotary motor has not satisfied the demand of modern control system. Hence, the driving control system of linear motor has attracted much attation. Linear motor can produce linear thrust force directly, not need additional intermediate conversion links. Hence, compared with traditional driving system, this motor can obtain high several times of traditional driving machine on positional accuracy and response speed. Recently, with the rapid development of the ropeless elevator technology, the study of linear motor in this application becomes increasing. This paper studies a novel kind of linear flux-switching permanent magnet(LFSPM) motor, in which C-core iron, PM and armature windings are installed on the primary, the secondary is made of simple iron core. Hence, this motor possesses simple secondary of linear induction motor and high power density of linear PM synchronous motor, so that is suitable for long-stroke application because of cheap initial cost.This paper is mainly devided following five parts:Firstly, motor structure and basic working principle of LFSPM motor is presented, and mathematical model of this motor is established. Back electromotive force(back-EMF), detent force, inductance and thrust force are verified.Secondly, according to design method of traditional PM motor, a set method of designing this motor is proposed, translator size, PM size and winding are analyzed in detail.Thirdly, based on electromagnetic field and finite element analysis(FEA), pole-pairs, width of PM, translator size and stator size are optimized by means of JMAG to get the best motor structure.Fourthly, based on mathematical model of this motor, in MATLAB or Simulink, the control system is established, and the principle is verified, meanwhile, static-state characteristics and vector control are simulated and studied.Finally, based on DSP, the driving control system of LFSPM motor has been established, and the system design is analyzed in detail, based on the practical demand, the hardware circuit of this system is designed to lay the foundation for the experimental test of the control system.
