Along with the rapid economic development of society and the expanding of cities, the congestion of urban traffic has become more serious. Therefore, it’s important for us to make good use of the urban space. As an urban mass transit system which is safe, fast, convenient and space-saving, subways are being widely used. However, vibration induced by the operation of subway has negatively influence people who live or work in the building over the subway. People have gradually paid attention to the environmental problems caused by this subway vibration. To tackle this issue, it’s necessary to carry out research into the influence of subway vibration.In this paper, the research target is building 1 of South China University of Technology National Science Park located over the Guangzhou Metro Line 3. This thesis aims to investigate how the vibration wave caused by the operation of subway influences the buildings immediately above it. This thesis focuses on the following aspects:(1) A large number of domestic and foreign literatures on environmental vibration have been reviewed, including vibration evaluation criteria. By studying existing data, we have had a general idea of the existing theories and achievements of this subject. This has helped us to set up the theoretical basis for subsequent chapters, as well as guiding our further research;(2) First, our location measurement in building 1 of South China University of Technology National Science Park was carried out. And then, we analyzed our measured data with Fourier Transform Spectroscopy to obtain the frequency composition and distribution of subway vibration which will further help us study the propagation and attenuation law in the frame structure caused by vibration of the subway. Finally, according to specification standards, we transformed the measured vibration acceleration into vibration acceleration level and vibration level to make our analysis;(3) The finite element software called MIDAS GTS NX was been used to build the threedimensional model which contains train, tunnel, soil and building structure. Then we took a dynamic time-procedure analysis. We simulated load of train to study response law of frame structure caused by the operation of the subway. In order to verify the correctness of simulation method, it is necessary to compare the results of the model calculation and measured data;(4) The three-dimensional finite element model with different parameters are being calculated and compared in the dynamic time-procedure analysis. In order to reduce the structural vibration response, it is necessary to study vibration response law of building structure over subway;(5) The simulation method of three-dimensional finite element was been used to simulate a residential building over subway in Dongguan. It is easy to predict the values of vibration response and evaluate the degree of comfort.
