Sedimentary soft soil are widely distributed in our country, the foundations of many real projects are built on sedimentary soft soil, and because of the increasing scarcity of land for construction, land reclamation projects in the coastal areas is gradually increasing, More and more scholars have conducted research on microstructure and engineering properties of sedimentary soft soil, and achieved rich research results. However, different sedimentary environment may cause the change of sedimentary soft soil’s mesoscopic structures, thereby affecting it’s engineering properties, but most scholars tend to only study on the mesoscopic structures or engineering properties of sedimentary soft soil in an area, not make a detailed study of the influence of the sedimentary conditions for sedimentary soft soil. Via thetest of deposition, the influence of sedimentary physical and chemical environment over the sedimentary process, pore characteristics and engineering properties of sedimentary soft soil is studied herein, the main contents include:(1) Analyzed the mesoscopic structures and engineering properties of the littoral facies sedimentary soft soil and inland lake sedimentary soft soil in parts of the country, and via the test of deposition, the effects of ion concentration over natural soil’s engineering properties is studied.(2) According to particles- water- electrolyte interaction diffusion electric double layer theory, establishing the sedimentation potential theoretic models, deducing the calculation formula of sedimentation potential, giving a quantitative relationship between the sedimentation potential and the influencing factors, and through self-designed simulation test verificating. The results show that the deposition potential theoretic models has the rationality and the applicability.(3) Designing the test of sedimentation rate and sedimentation potential to explore the influence of mineral composition, ion concentration, ion valence and particle size over the sedimentation process. The results show that the cohesive soil’s sedimentation rate and sedimentation potential is effected by mineral composition, ion concentration, ion valence and particle size; non-cohesive soil’s sedimentation rate and sedimentation potential is effected by mineral composition, ion concentration and particle size.(4) Designing the test of sedimention, the artificial soil is the objective of this research. The effects of mineral composition, ion concentration and depth of soil layer on the pore characteristics, size distribution and engineering properties of sedimentary soft soil are studied.(5) Designing the test of sedimention, the artificial soil and natural soil are the objective of this research. The effects of mineral composition and ion concentration on the sedimentation rate of sedimentary soft soil are studied.
