As a special vehicle to make the road traffic safe and smooth, Wrecker is mainly used to tow the illegally parked vehicles or the accident vehicles away. For the reason that the wrecker can relieve traffic congestion timely, it is widely used in highway and urban downtown. However, the design of the domestic wrecker generally adopts traditional method, and for some complex structures we usually make a rough calculation with a simplified model, which makes the calculation results difficult to reflect the real stress state of the product and then leads to a certain security risk. Therefore, we take the heavy wrecker as the research object in this paper, the structure of the bracket arms and chassis is analyzed and improved with the finite element method.Firstly, the mechanical model of the wrecker working device is established, the hinge force, hydraulic cylinder force and the stress of dangerous section of the working device are calculated in typical working conditions, and the strength check is made for the design size of the main hinge point and the hydraulic cylinder. Secondly, the parametric finite element model of the wrecker is established using ANSYS software, and the bracket and chassis is analyzed by using the static finite element method. According to the analysis results of strength and stiffness, the structure improvement and the arm body optimization of the working device components that does not meet the requirements is carried out.The effects of the front supporting leg slider material, the installation position of the sliding block and the size of the sliding block on the arm body are researched thoroughly. Finally, the stress test on the bracket and the outrigger of the wrecker is carried out, the test results and the finite element analysis results are compared and the reasons for the errors exist between the test results and the analysis results are analyzed, then the correctness of the processing and analysis for the finite element mode is verified.The research of this paper makes the structural design for the road wrecker more reasonable, and provides a relevant basis for the structural design of the heavy road wrecker.
