In order to improve the environment and meet the increasing demand for energy, it is the best way to solve the above problems to develop and utilize solar energy.Solar thermal power technology is a high technology that many countries do research on currently. It is clean, green, renewable. Furthermore, it is considered to be one of the most promising power generation technology. Heat transfer mediums often used in solar thermal power plants include steam, oil, liquid metal, air and molten salt. Among them, the molten salt as a very effective heat storage medium in solar thermal power technology has been applied in foreign countries. But it is in the initial stage in our country.The study on molten salt heat transfer is rare in both domestic and abroad. There are some unknown factors during progressing the experiment because of the lack of understanding of the molten salt thermal properties. So the theme has designed and constructed a complete program for the experimental study of convective heat transfer of molten salt across tube. The experiments use a mixture of 60% sodium nitrate and 40% potassium nitrate molten salt which is also known as solar salt. It has stable thermal properties and good heat transfer performance. Besides,several important subsystems have been installed after design and calculate,such as heating system,constant temperature system,data acquisition system and speed control system.some equipment or instrument in the experiment have been designed and selected.The study on the various characteristics of molten salt is the fundamental research of structural design of molten salt heat exchanger. The project lays a good foundation of the design of molten salt heat exchanger and heat storage system for future.
