Research On The Contemporary City Air Terminal Design In China

In the 21 st century, economy of our country develops sustainablly, social and economic activities increase. Civil aviation industry ushers in an unprecedented development opportunity. Aviation traffic continues to grow, airport construction ushers in a climax stage. Airports are often located in the city periphery, the distance makes it difficult to achieve an efficient contact between airport and city. Meanwhile, high-speed rail transportation system and highway system is increasingly maturing, aviation, railways, highways, waterways and other transportation interweaves each other. the relationship between the airport and the city is also changing. In this development context, the City Air Terminal came into being.City Air Terminal(referred as CAT), also known as virtual terminal, as an effort to expand the service to the airport outside the area, including all the basic functions of the airport terminal before boarding security checks. It can effectively reduce the pressure of the airport terminal, make the passengers wait nearby and travel flexibly. And it can also increase the proportion of public transport in city transport system, and improve the quality of the city.As still a new thing in our country, the development concentrated in the region with developed economic, favorable traffic conditions, such as the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta region, and parts of large metropolitan airports. At present, city terminal design theory and practice are at the exploratory stage in our country.This paper focuses on the city terminal typical cases in the selected areas, analyze the present development situation and study. Through the analogy method of induction and deduction in relevant literature compilation and typical examples research, the paper reveals the city air terminal design methods and strategies, including the location, function, space, form, management and other aspects. Explore the routes to the problems of city air terminal in the perspective of architecture. Summarize the preliminary development results into theory achievements. At the same time, make Xi’an Xianyang International Airport as a reference object, and attempt to simulate the design in Xi’an with the research results of this paper. Complete a full range of research called "Practice- Theory- Practice".
