PHEV car is playing a more and more important role in China’s rapid growing new energy vehicle market. Battery system is the most import component,which affects vehicle dynamic, driving range and safety. Battery safety is one of the key issues in PHEV car development, and it is worth to be studied.Based on a development project of PHEV car, battery system safety related scope is studied and defined. According to the safety scope and components, safety development process is studied,which aims to form a safety development frame and help improve PHEV car safety quality. Main work of this study are as follows:(1) Battery system safety concept is introduced and safety related standards are analyzed.Researching on safety design scope and technique requirements.(2) Introducing a PHEV car configuration and the related battery system development.Researching on battery safety design process and key issues.(3) Analysis on safety test items and acceptance standards.(4) Introducing the test work on HIL lab,battery lab and proving ground,and presenting the test results.
