By analyzing the electrochemical principle of VRLA, theoretically elaborated the failure mechanism of VRLA battery. Secondly, the physical meaning of battery internal resistance, and the relationship between internal resistance and the battery health status and capacity are elaborated by the analysis of VRLA physical model. Discusses the principle and method of battery internal resistance test, and summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of hand-held and on-line battery internal resistance test in the current project application.By the actual operation data of a large number of data analysis and summary,the paper shows that the internal resistance of the battery in the battery maintenance test on the early detection of lack of capacity, battery, improve the accuracy that the positive role of the analysis, and put forward the internal resistance of battery capacity and internal resistance test in the process of relationship is not obvious, there are missing and false application limitation and some improvement suggestions.
