BIM is Building Information Modeling, a new concept emerged early 21 st century, information technology development to a certain stage of the impact of the inevitable product of the construction industry. That is, through a specific software tools, the inner construction of all components, the system gives interrelated parameter information, and intuitively with 3D visualization in the form of design, modification, analysis, and forms can be used to design, build construction, operation and management of buildings lifecycle referenced documents.Steel information process, the main problem is that the a lot of project information stored in the various stages of steel life cycle. Because each stage separately using their own "model" and lead to "information island" phenomenon has become an obstacle steel production efficiency. Steel plant usually is the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance in one of its unique construction, easier to remove this information island phenomenon, the use of BIM technology will solve this problem.This paper analyzes the conventional steel plant construction processes, loss of information found in their processes, waste of resources, work redundancy and inefficiencies and other issues. In this paper, "BIM technology application in the construction of the steel plant" as a direction to explore and research, starting from the steel plant construction point of view, the most current technology in steel plant built BIM processes applied research and practice, will BIM technology applied to the entire steel plant construction cycle design, manufacture, installation and maintenance, to solve the problem at all stages of BIM technology applications, improved conventional steel construction process deficiencies, get a new technology based on the construction of BIM processes, can significantly improve efficiency, reduce costs and shorten the construction period, strengthening project management and control.The steel plant BIM technology in practical engineering, to explore the advantages and disadvantages of BIM software in the construction of steel plant in the actual project. After the application of BIM technology that can effectively utilize the professional model, improving the steel construction process, improve economic efficiency. But BIM software data between incompatible standards are not uniform defects, but also restricted the popularity of BIM.At the same time, this study relies on BIM thought, in steel plant construction, research BIM 3D structural steel plant visual information, manufacturing information, analysis integrated construction management of technical information on the integrated BIM technology to do a preliminary exploration, with a unified Integrated BIM software throughout the steel construction process, completely solve the data are not compatible, standards are not uniform, and greatly shorten the construction period, cost savings, and promote the steel manufacturing industry automation and intelligent. This paper to steel plant construction, for example, for the integration of BIM technology provides an effective theory, processes, methods and techniques in the steel plant construction in the specific application, provide a reference for practical application.
