Galloping is a self-excited oscillation of divergence instability caused by a gas power. Its characteristics are low frequency and large amplitude. The gentle vibration of non-circular cross-section of the elongated structure often occur the oscillation.The icing galloping is the most typical representative; Ice dance wire has large damage on transmission line, ranging from white flashover damage, ground wires,and cable, hardware and parts, or line tripping outage, break down the tower, such as serious accidents, which cause great economic losses.D-shaped cross-section and some other icing shapes often widely used, but because the D-shaped cross-sectional shape is easy to quantify and relatively representative. Therefore, D-shaped cross-section is often used to study icing conductor aerodynamic characteristics. This paper selects the D- shaped cross section to study the icing galloping.By rigid section model load test and the elastic rigidity section model manometry and measured vibration of the D-shaped cross section of the suspension characteristic galloping. The main contents are as follows:By iced conductor model wind pressure coefficients, coefficient of static analyzes the aerodynamic characteristics of the section; the critical wind speed computing conductor galloping and galloping maximum response.Galloping icing on the wire model variation occurred were describing the dynamic and aerodynamic with the displacement process; the effects of different wind angle on galloping critical wind speed and vibration response.Compared iced conductors aerodynamic model of static and dynamic pressure in the aerodynamic coefficient, coefficient, etc. As well as the applicability of inertial coupling DenHartog cross-wind galloping instability mechanism and the mechanism of icing galloping explained.In this paper, through the research on the D-shaped cross-section galloping characteristics for future research iced conductors galloping and galloping mechanismfeatures provide important reference.
