Design Of Wireless Meter Reading System Based On LoRa Communication

The traditional manual meter reading need staff door-to-door collection data table, this will lead to huge workload, and the effectiveness of data is fast, can not respond to the user whether the arrears in time; cable meter reading mode although there is no problem of manual meter reading, but need to communication cable laying, have been built for District, cable is unable to hide, storm drain cable vulnerable to vandalism, and long distance communication lines in the complex electromagnetic environment data cannot be guaranteed accuracy. In order to solve the above problems, this paper designs a wireless meter reading system based on LoRa communication, which has high accuracy, wide adaptability and practicability.In this paper, the design of wireless meter reading system according to the different functions of various devices to achieve can mainly be divided into three parts water, concentrator and repeater, water meter main function is to forward flow statistics, reverse flow statistics, magnetic interference detection, emergency off valve and wireless data transmission. The main function of repeater is to signal the distant water meter relay transceiver; concentrator’s main function is to receive the instruction of workstations and water for management, data collection and upload. Design of the SX1278 chip LoRa communication technology, can solve in modern building, ordinary wireless communication technology of signal unable to penetrate the copy on the floor in tall buildings in the water, and SX1278 with low power mode and sleep wake up technology, combined with the design of hardware and software, makes by battery powered water meter and relay can maintain ultra low power, to solve the problem of wireless meter reading in standby time is short. The design of the communication protocol is based on the wired meter reading protocol combined with the wireless meter reading function needs to be improved. The LoRa communication between the repeater and the water meter, concentrator, the concentrator is mainly used to copy meter reading data. The concentrator at a receiving station instruction and upload data, is used in GPRS communication. Workstations need to be reading, sent via GPRS meter reading instruction, concentrator received instruction by LoRa communication transmission meter reading instruction to the water table, water after receiving the instruction returns the data to the concentrator, concentrator will receive the data back to the station, in order to achieve wireless meter reading process.In this paper, the design of wireless meter reading system in the three Chuan Co., Ltd. for the performance test, running well to expectations. This wireless meter reading technology has a certain reference value for the follow-up related research and development.
