Wanjing Area is a significant part of Yangtze River, located in middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River. With the economic development, the form of rural residence in Wanjing area has changed, such as the emergence of centralized residence. The energy consumption is rising. As the limit of economic and technique level, most energy saving measure of rural residences are passive techniques. The utilization potential of natural ventilation is great, as it can both improve interior indoor thermal environment and reduce the energy consumption. However, the investigate results show that many natural ventilation disappeared in newly built residences, which is an important part of traditional house. Compared with urban area, the natural environment is better is rural area, and need more attention. In this paper, the author mainly studied the natural ventilation system of rural residence in Wanjing area through field investigate and measurement and CFD simulation. The paper was divided into six chapters. The first chapter is an overview of research background, meanings and purpose and research status in related fields at home and abroad.The second chapter summarized the theory of thermal comfort, emphasized on the adaptive model which was be suitable for evaluating natural ventilation, and the impact of wind speed on thermal comfort. The theory of natural ventilation technology was introduced,including the design of traditional house in Anhui Province. The third chapter states the results of investigate and measurement, the results showed that there are three forms of rural residence in Wanjing area. The analysis of data was conducted, including meteorological data and the data of indoor temperature, relative humidity and wind speed. In forth chapter, based on adaptive model, the quantitative evaluation methodology of natural ventilation system was proposed. And impact factors of natural ventilation system was analyzed by using a CFD software, the impact factors include architectural composition,plane design, windows form, and the transom window design. The fifth chapter proposed seven design principle of natural ventilation system of rural residence in Wanjing area, finished the natural ventilation system design in three cases. The strategy of air distribution is analyzed. The sixth chapter summarizes comprehensively the research content, results, existing problem and limitation of this paper, and discussed the research prospects in the future.
