Renewable energy has been increasingly embraced due to dwindling fuel reserves. Wind power has become highly valued and welcomed. Wind power, the most competitive renewable energy except hydropower, recently is developing rapidly and given more and more attention in the world. But wind power is highly volatility, intermittent and hardly to be accurately predicted, large scale wind power integration may have a great negative impact on the power grid planning. Therefore, capacity factor of wind power utilization has been defined aimed at power grid planning considering large-scale wind power, three planning models have been designed, the calculation result of model can play a reference role in decision making of power grid planning. Method to investigating the demand side potential in the load side has also been put forward, and demand response programs can be used for the power grid planning. Wind power grid planning considering the demand side potential has been researched. Power network planning considering storage system has also been put forward.1) Power grid planning using capacity factor of wind power utilization:capacity factor of wind power utilization has been put forward, the capacity factor of wind power utilization is the ratio of wind power utilization and power grid construction cost, it represents the relationship between the wind power utilization efficiency and planning cost, this factor can play a reference role in decision making of power grid planning. Three planning models have been put forward. The first model uses the capacity factor of wind power utilization as the target function, the target is to maximize the factor. The second model turns the capacity factor of wind power utilization into annual yield on circuit construction investment, the rate of return can be included in the constraint conditions, target function is circuit construction. The third model calculates the capacity factor of wind power utilization of a variety of line construction projects, and also the wind power utilization rate, then compare the index values of various schemes.2) Wind power grid planning considering demand side resources:the wind power network planning model considering demand side resources has been studied, the method to solve the programming model has also been introduced. Demand side resources used in power system planning has been defined, the demand side resources can be divided into two categories, namely the demand side resources at planning level and demand side resources at operation level. Demand side resources at planning level is the long-term load that demand side can reduce owing to taking the new electrical equipment, renovation or replacement on the demand side; demand side resources at operation level is the load that demand side can temporarily reduce owing to taking notice and the costs of subsidies on demand side. Methods of demand side resources investigation has been studied, and the survey form of demand side resources at planning level has been introduced, the form has been described and calculation method of the amount of resources has been introduced; the survey form of demand side resources at operation level has been introduced, the form has been described and calculation method of the amount of resources has been introduced.3) Wind power grid planning considering energy storage system:wind power grid planning model considering energy storage system has been studied, also is the method for solving the planning model. Using energy storage system in the wind power grid, energy storage system can absorb energy in wind power output peaks, and release energy when the wind power output is low, it can reduce the transient maximum transmission power, delay the construction of power grid, and reduce the cost of power grid planning. The location and capacity of energy storage system using in the power planning has been studied, the location and capacity of energy storage system can be optimized by coding the location and capacity of energy storage system.
