Urbanization in many areas is developing as rapidly as economic growth in China, however, surrounding by the slogan sound of "construct a wonderful China", it is a fact that majority of urban green random construction in a profit-oriented manner can not play its rightful ecological benefits frequently. In our country, there is a lack in feedback mechanism of urban green space system planning to urban comprehensive planning and it is also comparatively rare that the related directive outlines and special planning be formulated in regional level with some natural characteristic. In short, the objective for improving the urban ecological environment is clear, but the method for the construction of urban green spaces is confused. Therefore, it requires us to review today’s urban green spaces development from a higher perspective, which one of the most critical issues is urban green spaces morphology.Based on the review of related theories and methods at home and abroad, this paper establishes a set of landscape metrics which can aptly describe urban green spaces pattern and constructs a GIS-FRAGSTATS-based analysis framework to investigate urban green spaces morphology, which includs creation of spatial databases for different emphasis and sampling calculation of landscape metrics. In order to provide some feasible ideas for the adjustment and formulation of urban green space system planning, the similarities and differences are combed by analysing and evaluating the urban green spaces pattern of Xinghua, Jianhu and Funing, which in the region of Lixiahe.
