A Preliminary Study On The Compilation Of New Urban Public Space Landscape Design Guidelines

Recent years, accompanying with the strategy of developing a livable eco-city, landscape quality of urban public space has became an important part in the constructing a new city. However, our nation’s urban landscape design results, still in the conceptual level, lacking a guidance document to achieved the vision of urban landscape in specific public space construction. This brings a negative impact to operating the scheme of urban landscape design result.The principal research object of this paper is new urban public space landscape design guidelines. It transformed the urban landscape design language into a management document to facilitate the construction of public space in new city development. Landscape design guidelines are compiled basis on the identified result of urban design, to guide the construction of the four typical types of pubic space(parks, squares, waterfront, streets) from landscape design, construction, maintenance and site resource protection level.Adopting the urban design guidelines method into the compilation of landscape design guidelines and taking the form of general and specific provisions to guide the public space construction from “the whole –system-partition” level. Also the guidelines absorbed the merits of foreign excellent landscape guidelines, to improve the status of protecting landscape environment in landscape construction. Finally, through specific projects---Guangzhou, Nansha, Mingzhu bay landscape design program to implement the framework of guidelines.This paper attempts to construct a framework in the compilation of urban landscape design guidelines, providing a management document for new urban landscape construction. And effective solve the problem of the faults between urban landscape design and urban public space construction.
