In the development of human creative activities, nature has always been giving us inspirations. This is the reason that biomimicry advocated the idea of learning from nature. This thesis analyzes the current status and problems of applying biomimicry in product design, and advocates to mimic nature from a behavioral level. It proposes that not only the appearance of products can be inspired from nature, but also the product behaviors can be guided by nature behaviors. Combined with Biomimicry innovative approach in related fields and professional features of product design, the thesis builds an applicable design process to mimic nature behaviors in interactive product design while using swarm intelligence as a mimicry target.In the research and analysis periods, the thesis summarizes the significance of product behavior biomimicry design, and reviewed the status of Biomimicry, bionic design, product design methodology and swarm intelligence research. It identifies the knowledge gap in current studies and determines the main research contents. It also analyzes the definition of swarm intelligence behavior, describes the main features of swarm intelligence behavior. Through a comparative study of swarm intelligence behavior patterns and product interactive patterns, it suggests to mimic swarm intelligence behaviors in product design. Based on the foraging behavior model of bees, the thesis narrows the research scope of swarm intelligence, presents an applicable visualized swarm intelligence behavior pattern which will benefit other product design projects to utilize swarm intelligence.In the design period, the thesis uses the foraging behavior pattern of bees as a biological model and the cooperative unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)as the product model, completes the biomimicry design practice. Based on the functions and behaviors similarities between the two systems, the swarm intelligence pattern guides the design practice. Learned from the relevant research,it affirms the importance of optimizing interactive system for UAV group used in nature disasters. Through related product research and cooperation trends analysis, it concludes the design requirements of cooperative UAVs. Finally, it completes the product bionic design practice by prototype building and testing.The present thesis demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed methods and model through theoretical studies and design practice, and proposes applicable product design practice areas. Promoting product design practice and innovation by theoretical innovation will diversify the using of biomimicry in product design, and optimize the execution of interactive product strategies, thus to improve the efficiency and intellectualization of products.
