With the depth development of coal mining industry, the belt conveyor was widely used as the major transport equipment of coal mine, whose performance of braking system would directly affect the security and stability of conveyor running and further affect the smooth operation of coal mining. Among them, the disc brake became the main braking device of conveyor due to its simple structure, convenient maintenance and faster heat dissipation. Its thermal-structure coupling effect of the friction pair during braking has been the main factors of vibration, noise and thermal fatigue of the brakes. Therefore, it had significant meaning to do the thermal-structure coupling analysis of disc brake. This paper introduced the research status of disc brake and the basic theory of thermal structure coupling analysis. On this basis, the three-dimensional modal of friction pair was built and the finite element analysis simulation of the braking process was completed through the ANSYS Workbench, which revealed the distribution and variation of temperature field and stress field and relative reason. Then, the change tendency of temperature and stress of disc brake wasanalyzed along the axial and radial, and the change of maximum temperature was investigated under the effect of different factors such as initial speed, braking time, friction coefficient, material density. The simulation results indicated that the node temperature of disc brake and brake shoe both showed the tendency of increasing firstly and decreasing subsequently, the disc temperature curve in the friction area showed the jagged fluctuations due to the alternately performance of heat input and convective heat transfer, the maximum temperature curve was different under the effect of different factors, and the stress field which was mainly component for the thermal stress was highly similar to the temperature field. The industrial experiment system of disc brake are built to verify the temperature change and radial distribution of disc temperature in the braking conditions. The variation of transient friction coefficient under different initial speed and braking time was compared through CFT friction and wear tester and factors of friction coefficient were explored. The vibration mode was researched and the first eight mode frequency of brake disk and racks was compared and analyzed. The frame structure of braking system was optimized, which provided the reference of avoiding resonance and reducing vibration of fraction pair.
