In accordance with the construction policy, application, economy, green, and beauty, the building use function and energy, water, land, material saving and environmental protection, advocate and develop modern wood frame construction in where have conditions. Poplar LVL is green environmental and have superior performance, conforming to the state requirements about the further development of the modern timberwork building and the construction application, economy, green, and beauty. But in our country, poplar LVL belongs to the rising structure material, and the research of the timber structure form composing of that is still in its infancy. Through the poplar LVL material and frame experimental study, the theoretical analysis and finite element model, this research systematically understand the mechanical mechanism of poplar LVL and lateral resistant performance of poplar LVL framework. Results can provide theory support for poplar LVL in the application of modern wood frame construction, and the theory basis for development road of the wood structure that is suitable for the situation of China.In this paper, according to the research order of materials to framework, from poplar LVL physical and mechanical properties and on the basis of understanding poplar LVL wood property roundly, research poplar LVL the lateral resistance of the structure, by adopting the method of combining experimental with theoretical analysis study. The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Complete poplar LVL material physical and mechanical property experiment by the use of the universal experiment machine, such as material testing machine, electronic balance. The test results show that the strength and mechanical properties stability of poplar LVL greatly improve and poplar LVL compression behave some plasticity, but it is in the linear phase in tension test. At the same time, according to the experimental data of discrete degree can show poplar LVL can obviously improve structure performance and the utilization rate of wood.(2)Accomplish experiments of four poplar LVL frameworks and two poplar LVL frame-shear framework under one-way and low reversed cyclic loading and analyze the lateral force of three groups of frameworks under two different load. The results prove that the bearing capacity of the Poplar LVL connection with bolt steel plate is better, but the lateral stiffness is slightly less than framework connecting rebar. Poplar LVL frame-shear wall is good to that framework.(3)The hysteresis curve of poplar LVL pure framework and frame-shear wall structure present obvious pinch effect, and the frame connected with bolt steel plate behave the most obvious shrinkage effect, the second is the framework connected with bar. Under horizontal loads, poplar LVL wood frame-shear wall have clear three stages, namely the elastic stage, yield stage and decline stage, and poplar LVL pure framework has long elastic stage.(4)The finite element simulation analysis was carried out on poplar LVL framework. Adopt the method of modeling the three-dimensional entity refinement and the stress result is consistent with the actual stress state, and the simulation value coincide with the test results.(5)Under horizontal force, the lateral force resistance of poplar LVL frame-shear wall structure function mainly shear wall system, poplar LVL framework have constraint function to shear wall, enhance its lateral bearing capacity and stiffness.
