The geographical distribution of energy resources and energy transmission needs in our country are unbalanced,it is urgent to solve the problem of large capacity> long distance transmission technology.1000 kV extra-high voltage AC power provides a effective way to solve the problem of remote energy transmission since it has a series of characteristics such as large capacity transmission, long-distance transmission and low loss. However, for extra-high voltage level line, the insulation level of line mainly depends on the size of the operating over-voltage; for AC transmission lines, electric property of line will change obviously when the length of the line reaches a certain value. In this paper, it is for relevant research of operating overvoltage problems of a new transmission technology-the Extra-High Voltage half wave AC transmission, which Bases on the distributed transmission line theory to analyze the size distribution of various operating overvoltage of the Extra-High Voltage half wave transmission system, and using EMTP electromagnetic transient analysis software to simulate the situation of various operating overvoltage.Meanwhile, proposing some measures to restrain these operating overvoltage, and discuss the characteristics of different measures. Finally it summarizes some meaningful conclusions and Provides effective reference for the engineering practice of the Extra-High voltage half wave transmission technology.
