The imbalance of energy distribution and economic development determine our energy policy for the"west to east, north and south for each other, the national network"in China. Our water resources are mainly concentrated in the southwest region, coal resources are mainly concentrated in Shanxi,Shannxi and the western fo Inner Mongolia, while the load is mainly concentrated in the eastern coastal areas. Therefore, long-distance and high-capacity transmission is imperative, that the research shows HVDC has a natural advantage compared to AC transmission.Under the guidance of technical innovation and development planning,China has been built a large number of UVHDC project to replace the HVDC project, which results a significant economic and social benefits.By the end of 2014,China has put into operation above 3 UHVAC projects and 6 UVHDC projects, which has been planned 4 UHVAC projects and 5 UVHDC projects. The large number of HVDC construction poses a severe requirements to our power grids,so both ends of the converter station’s safe and stable operation directly affects the safe operation in Interconnected Power Grid. Therefore, this articlce study commutation failure which is the most common faults in HVDC and study HVDC commutation principle...
