Perfect transformation equipment maintenance system plays a vital role in finding equipment defects in advance, declining accident probability and guaranteeing the safe operation of power grid. Condition-based maintenance system of transformation equipment has been widely applied is China. It has not only reduced maintenance cost of power supply enterprises and improved the maintenance and utilization rates of transformation equipment, but also avoided the excess and insufficient maintenance of transformation equipment in previous periodical and preventive maintenance. However, due to historical reason, front-line maintainers still focus their maintenance thinking on the methods of analyzing equipment’s test data in the stage of previous periodical and preventive maintenance. When formulating maintenance strategies, they only pay attention on localization in a blind way, thus resulting in the lack of not only perfect condition assessment means of transformation equipment but also scientific maintenance strategies.In this paper, an in-depth study is on the maintenance strategy of traasformation equipment condition. Based on present maintenance mode of Ningbo Electric Power Bureau, efforts are spent in conducting a comprehensive analysis on equipment condition information acquired in the site by dint of the data accumulated in previous periodical and preventive tests, live test and online monitoring technology in the hope of working out the methods to assess equipment condition and corresponding condition-based maintenance strategies. Meanwhile, in order to avoid processing large amount of equipment condition information manually, computer is recommended to assist people with the evaluation of transformation equipment condition to develop corresponding transformation equipment condition-based assessment and decision-making system.Through the practical application of this system in Ningbo Electric Power Bureau, maintainers can master the real-time operation of the administered transformation equipment, and assist production technicians in formulating maintenance strategies for ill-conditioned transformation equipment. In this way, solid technical support will be provided for more effective and scientific maintenance of transformation equipment condition.
