Energy is the vital material condition of human survival and development. With the growing shortage of fossil energy and the increasingly serious environmental pollution and the greenhouse effect, only by developing renewable energy can achieve the human society sustainable development. Considering the solar energy resources and water resources distribution characteristics in China, this paper has been done focusing on the parabolic trough solar-aided direct air-cooled coal-fired system (SADACCFS).The main research contents and results are summarized as follows:(1) By establishing the parabolic trough solar-aided direct air-cooled coal-fired system mathematical model, the complementary power generation off-design program is built. Focusing on the integration method and operation modes of the solar-aided direct air-cooled coal-fired system, the off-design thermal performance is calculated under different substitution patterns of the THA and 75% THA mode such as the standard coal consumption rate, the solar power output and the plant thermal efficiency. As the solar direct normal irradiance (DNI) is the main factor influencing the substitution pattern, the sensitivity analysis of DNI to the thermal performance is made then.(2) The summer and winter real time operation conditions of the SADACCFS are simulated supporting by the calculation program. Based on the controlling variable method, the research about the meteorological factors and the operation parameters affecting the solar filed system and the air cooling system is conducted.(3) Respectively for the SADACCFS and reference coal-fired unit, take the THA and 75% THA in summer and winter as examples to seek the optimal back pressure so as to provide optimal operation modes. At the same time, analysis shows the parabolic trough solar-aided direct air-cooled coal-fired system performs better and operations safer than that of reference coal-fired unit no matter in hot summer or the cold winter.
