The power quality relates to the whole electric power system safety, stability, economic and reliable operation. With the high-speed development of national economy, a large number of power electronic equipment and nonlinear load have been applied in the power system.More and more harmonic wave injecting into the electric network, causes great harm to the electric equipment, deteriorates the power quality, and worsens the operational status of the power grid. As the electric power department and power users to power quality requirements more and more high, effective management in the grid harmonic and good power quality is particularly important.This paper focuses on the theme of power quality. Firstly, this paper expounds the basic contents of the power quality, the basic concept of the harmonic wave and the research status about harmonic wave at home and abroad. Then describe the harmonic source, main hazards and evaluation criteria in detail. Summarize the related approaches of the harmonic management. In view of present situations of some thermal processing factories, establish the system simulation model. Analysising the situation, two buses are in the parse operation or the parallel operation, it can be found that current harmonics, harmonic voltage and power factor are not qualified. Use SVG and FC to compensate on the bus side in this paper, and design the corresponding compensation capacity and the corresponding device configuration parameters.Finally, simulate the system model by the CYME PSAF simulation software. Through observing the simulation waveform, it can be found that harmonic current and harmonic voltage and power factor of the bus side do meet the requirements. The simulation results show that this method is rational and efficient, eliminating harmonic have practical significance, and improving the quality of power.
